First of all, Okku was a great companion and I definitively encourage everyone to play NwN2 MotB.
If you want games with a great story I recommand Planescape Torment, Disco Elysium ( true successor of PST, forget Numenera ) and MotB.
I also like KotoR2 a lot with one of the best characters in gaming history, but some star wars fans might hate it.
My main problem with non humanoid party members is that usually they have very limited options regarding their equipment and how to build them.
PST had very limited equipment options for every char, most items were for the main char only and since its best to be a mage all non daggers weapons were useless.
Okku could only equip rings and amulets and One of Many could not equip anything at all.
This is not a problem in a story focussed game and I really love those games, but players who love combat and optimizing their chars might not.
Well, those players will probably use a party of custum chars anyway.
